Halloween has always been my favorite holiday! As a "getting too old teen", I swore I would trick or treat every year until I had my own kids to take out!
What could be more exciting in life than unlimited free candy?!
Nothing is more exciting according to Riley!
But today, while I do allow myself to indulge every now and then, I mostly have my sugar cravings under control. So I want to share with you some tools I use with my hypnosis clients all the time!!
3 Hypnosis Tricks to Resist Treats!
1: Set a Goal Before Halloween
Setting a goal is a great way to prepare your subconscious to deal with the upcoming challenge of temptation.
You already know that there are going to be candy sales everywhere, that your kids will be bringing it home, and that it will practically be up for grabs wherever there is an empty bowl!
Before the holiday season hits, ask yourself how many pieces of candy you’ll let yourself enjoy. This way, you are still letting yourself get excited about candy (reward), while setting a healthy limit for yourself to make sure you don't go overboard.
2. Pick a Healthy Replacement
Pick an alternative like a healthy snack, drink, or a breathing exercise to replace the urge to indulge.
The trick here is to visualize yourself successfully utilizing this replacement. This will help reprogram your subconscious mind and will make the possibility for a positive outcome that much stronger!
3. Ask Your Body What It Really Wants
Oftentimes we are acting out of habit when we indulge in cravings. Our subconscious programming can be really strong, and we end up reaching for something sweet, salty, etc. to soothe ourselves when our bodies may actually be asking for something else entirely!
So before you grab that candy bar, check in with yourself. Are you tired? Thirsty? Do you need protein? Take a moment to give your body what it wants! I promise you’ll feel soooo much better when you do! Before no time you’ll learn how to step back and watch those cravings rise and fall, riding them out like a surfer on the north shore!
Another bonus tip: remember your why. It may seem simple, but if you remember why you’re choosing to refrain from indulging, it will help you stay on track with your goals. Whether your goal is to fit into those new pair of jeans, to model healthy behavior for your children, or to improve your health, always come back to your why to help keep you on track.
I know making these changes on a conscious level can be hard, so I like to reinforce them on a subconscious level using hypnosis to make sure they really have impact.
