Angled Podcast Interview
A couple of years back, I had a wonderful time doing an interview with Voyage. My responses made me more introspective about each topic we chatted about, plus seeing my responses written out - reading them - really made think about my responses in a different way. Maybe that’s why we journal - to go back and look at our thoughts. Reconsider them. Why do I feel or think that way? How can I improve?
That being said - when the opportunity presented itself again to be interviewed, this time with Angled Podcast - where (you guessed it!) it’s all about your angle in life and work. I wanted to share my responses and you can check out the full episode at this link.
What is your angle?
Through hypnotherapy, I help people break bad habits and release fears so they can make more money, improve their health & love their love lives.
3 facts about yourself that you think people should know?
-I am a Mom of 2 little girls.
-I am a former TV Producer turned Hypnotherapist.
-I’ve been married for over 10 years.
How have you taken turns in your search for success in life?
Growing up, I wanted to be a Broadway performer. So I did everything I could do to prepare for that career early in my life. When it came time to pick a college, and decide between going to school for acting or business, I purposely chose a business school in NYC where I could also taker performing classes. It was during college that I realized I could “marry” my two focuses of business and show - and pursue being a TV producer. That’s what made me pick Los Angeles after college, and seek opportunities to produce shows - join the industry!
After having kids, my idea of success changed. I no longer wanted to burn myself out for my career. I wanted something that would allow me to also have space for myself and my family. So I became a hypnotherapist. I believe that any time I set my mind on something I know I can achieve it. It is all about setting a clear goal in my mind to exactly what it is I want to do and eliminating the distractions and noise along the way. I also realized that hypnotherapy can help my clients get clarity on their visions for themselves and how they want to live their life. Helping people be their best version and achieve their goals has been really rewarding.
What are three things that you love to do and why?
I love to host parties to build community. I love to ask questions because I really want to know people on a deeper more intimate level. And I love running my business because it allows me to both build community and help people on a much deeper level.
Where did you grow up?
Goshen! A small town in NW CT near the Berkshires (western Mass.) and more importantly about 2.5 hours outside of NYC. I love big cities!
What’s one word you’d use to describe yourself and why?
Friendly! Because I immediately think that anyone I meet and have a good conversation with is my friend.
What does community mean to you? Where does it serve mostly in your life?
Community means having people close by who I can turn to for support. My neighbors, my kids school community. There is usually something in common that is a commonality amongst the group. A mutual understanding of what we are going through. It serves me by being able to ask a neighbor for a diaper when my 3 year old ran out at bedtime, or being able to have fun partying with the Mom’s from my daughters school on Mom’s night. It’s being able to have a place to drop off the kids on a Friday night when all the babysitters I called were unavailable. It’s being able get rid of a trampoline from my yard without creating trash by giving it away to another mom in the neighborhood. It’s being able to sit in a circle with other women and share the most vulnerable parts of ourselves and not feel judged or alone.
What’s one thing that you value most and why is this important to your angle/approach to problem-solving?
A value my upbringing most. My parents and my extended family for always treating me with love, kindness, support and care. Our childhoods and upbringings have such a huge impact on our adult lives. I am so grateful that I had a healthy childhood so today I can best support my clients who may not have been gifted with this same security and love and safety in their early years.
What has been one challenge/obstacle that has defined a chapter of your life?
Post Pardum anxiety after the birth of my second daughter. It helped me to realize that medication isn’t bad or evil. For me it was life changing and probably treated some underlying anxiety / ADHD that has been a struggle my whole life. It made me able to move through challenges with more ease and trust and less on edge.
How would you best define success and where you’ve had it in your life?
When I can feel really happy and gracious for where I am in my life in the moment. Free from fear or pressure or worry.
